lemonade in a cup

So tonight we met my mom at Park City after her work (because Wednesdays mom usually helps me pass the long evenings with Chris at worship practice til really late). We had fun eating dinner and then shopping a bit. As we headed out to the car, I realized we had a 25 minute trip home and Hudson had a lot to drink for dinner. We were at the car, in a pinch and Mom had him pee in her empty drink cup with us around him - as we are thinking a bit that we are slightly redneck for this act, my son says, "Hey, it looks like Lemonade in my cup!" Too much, I almost lost the cup from laughing! And no, it went into the trash, not in anyone's mouth....like yesterday's debacle.

EWWW!

So just a few minutes ago, I walked back the hall to put Hudson in his room for quiet time (read: nap time) and Anna was playing quietly on the floor. With the downstairs steps cordoned off, I felt fairly comfortable to leave her play quietly with the toys she had on the floor. I put Hudson down, came back and grabbed an Oreo in the kitchen and walked around the corner to find Anna had made her way to the front door and was licking the bottom of my flip-flops! EWWWWWWW! All I could think was, "gross - those have been everywhere today!" I figure there are worse things she could lick, but I took her to the sink and attempted to wash out her mouth with water - she of course, thought it was drink time and tried to sip every handful. Right now I know one person that is about to pass out from germaphobia - Tracy, it's ok, Anna is in her bed squealing - I can hear that she is ok so far. :)

It's All His - even Hudson's teeth

So the song Yours by Steven Curtis Chapman has been in my head recently - a lot. And then in devo last night, the title of the devo was "It's All His", and the fact that we are living in someone else's space and it's not ours and belongs to Him has been constantly on my mind. So, do you think God's trying to teach me something? uhhh, maybe! I came to this great epiphany this morning after Hudson's dentist appointment where we found out we are going to have to get his two front teeth extracted.

Yes, Hudson will be toothless. We haven't decided if it will be until he gets adult teeth, or if it will be until he gets baby dentures, but after we see the oral surgeon, there will be no more front baby teeth for Hudson. This is all from that fall he had onto the tile floor when he was 18 months old. Crazy enough as it is, it has taken that long for the roots to become infected and now he has "bacteria" in his roots and "lesions" on his gums. As the dentist is telling me this, I am thinking, "my baby - his poor teeth!" Then, "Oh my goodness, how are we going to pay for all of this?" While driving back, I just kept thinking, it's all His. Give it over to Him. Don't worry about the finances, it is something that needs to be done. My new mantra - it's all His, it's all His, it's all His.

Less than 10 minutes later I am talking to my wonderful husband and he shares with me some incredible news. News that blows my socks off. News that reminds me it is ALL HIS. News that brings me to tears. (no, we didn't sell our house, but that's HIS too, so I am not worrying about that either!) This news brings joy to my soul and reinforces the beauty that no matter what circumstances I am in, we will be cared for. And so - less than 30 minutes after we find out we will probably have a large payment for teeth - or the loss of teeth - we find out that in God's workings there will be help for this. Amazing.

Check out these lyrics to the song... (it's on YouTube to listen too as well if you search it)

And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
From the stars in the sky
To the depths of the ocean floor
And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
All the greatness and power, the glory and splendor and majesty
Everything is Yours
Yeah, it's all Yours
We are Yours

The glory and honor is Yours, everything is Yours
It's all Yours, God
My life is Yours, my heart is Yours
My hands and my feet are Yours
Every song that I sing
It's all Yours, all is Yours
All belongs to You
Our gifts are Yours, God
All our dreams are Yours, God
All our plans are Yours, God
The whole earth is Yours, God
Everything is Yours

Strawberry Picking

Strawberry picking anywhere is more fun than can be imagined. Time flies by, especially when you're little and can eat what you pick. Hudson had a blast and Anna loved what we were doing once she figured out what those little red things were. We couldn't get her to stop eating them! Strawberries are Hudson's favorite food, so he was in heaven in the midst of a strawberry field. By the way, take a close look at their shirts - Daddy says, "Go Phitin' Phils!"

Hudson Quotes of the Week and Swimming!

In reference to Anna; "Momma, put Anna back in your tummy." (We then explained that babies only come out, they don't go back in - feeling somewhat encouraged though because this is the first time he has ever said this!)

In reference to kite flying; "It's dying! My Buzz Lightyear is dying!" as the kite fell to the ground from the wind!

In reference to where Grandad Engle is: "How long does it take to get to heaven? How do I get there?" He knows where Grandad is, and he wants to visit him at his house! :o)

Other than that, good news is that we went swimming today, in a real pool. And yes, it was heated. Marion took us to the "bug guy" pool and it was so much fun! We had a blast. Hudson loved playing with the boys and Anna just watched all the kids in the water. When we got home though, Anna's Motrin wore off and when she woke screaming from her nap, I knew something was wrong. She started pulling at her ears (which she did yesterday too) and I thought for sure she couldn't have another ear infection after just finishing anti-biotics on Monday. I was wrong. She has another one in the other ear and her previously infected one was on the line of crossing over as well. Glad she's a normally great baby, because when she doesn't feel well, you can tell right away!

Mama and MOBILE!

So Anna has hit 2 developmental milestones that make me cry - for different reasons! One, she now most definitely, very assuredly, uses Mamamamama in relationship to her Mommy (very cute!) and the other, she is mobile. It started off with a quick accidental scoot on the belly, but has turned into the full-on ARMY crawl and is closing in on the traditional crawl on all fours. She seems to get a little farther on all fours every day, then drops to the belly from sheer exhaustion and scoots. Ahhh...I was hoping to be in our own home in PA so as to not have to baby proof two homes in a short amount of time, but I guess I will have to give in and start baby-proofing this one soon. On a side note, it does make me (Beth) grin from ear to ear when I hear her babbling and then Mamamama and she gives me a big grin when I come. Below are some cool pictures from recently - Anna has also learned the joy of 'flirting' with Daddy and anyone who will pay attention to her. She likes "so BIG!" as she is showing off here. And this is her big brother, loving his trains and making sure all the tracks get used - so we have to set it up on the floor daily, not on the train table. :)
